RSEQ made the only sensible decision available to them. They waited until the last possible moment to pull the plug, but they really had no choice. Covid isn't just going to go away this fall. If anything it seems to be getting worse right now, and is doing so even before we get into the cold weather which was predicted to cause a second wave.

If new infections had kept trending down, they could've justified attempting a season as long as they were willing to risk reversing course if things went south. They waited as long a possible only to see it trending upwards at their drop dead date. At some point even the die-hards need to admit defeat. It was a valiant effort, but it just wasn't meant to be.
I mostly agree with this. Cases have been steadily creeping up, with no signs of going back down.

Realistically, we can expect more government-issued interdictions that would have put a stop to the season anyway.

Don't have to go very far to see a general feeling of people in public spaces. People have been acting like this is not worth bothering with security measures like social distancing and wearing masks the right way. We get what we sow.

The Rouge et Or are a special program. By far the strongest in the nation and likely the greatest program ever. - Duane Rollins, Sept 2nd 2008
