Dear Folks:

I've done no research on this so far and am posting here first hoping that I may save myself some time perhaps reinventing the wheel?

Here's my tale. The summer rep football league (ages 10 to 19) I volunteer with needs to address the wearing of religious headgear under our football helmets. The issues, to date, are safety due to fit and liability/insurance. The umbrella organization under which we operate already has a policy stating that no headgear is to be worn under helmets but this policy was put in place to address more "social" issues and was not expected to address religious interpretations.

I would be most interested (and grateful) to anyone who might have already dealt with the "religious accommodation" issue or could steer me in that direction for guidance.
