    Default Homecoming Panda Game

For a few Years uOttawa has held an Alumni Week in early May. Now they have decided to move it to the traditional autumn spot and call it Homecoming.

Thus on Oct 5, 2019 we will have uOttawa's first Homecoming Panda Game.

Last December a few alumni from around North America, including me, took part in a Live On-line conference via our computers concerning the re-shaping of Homecoming. It was a strong consensus that it should be when we had a home football game. We proposed that Panda Game weekend was the obvious choice. It is nice to know that our voices were heard.

Founded in 1848, the University of Ottawa adopted its official colours Garnet and Grey, and like many nineteenth-century institutions, the athletics teams were known only by the school's colours. Eventually, a connection was made between the shorthand "GGs" and "Gee-Gee", the common British nickname for a racehorse. The unique Gee-Gees name and iconic logo known today is a result of 170 years of history in Ottawa
