Default Ok, Why would Mac HC say this????

    Any thoughts???

Have the McMaster Marauders found their man?
Mac loses to Western, but Jackson White steps up

It seems pretty clear, in spite of the 29-14 defeat, that Mac may have found its QB of the future — and his name is Jackson White. Coming in at halftime against the Mustangs, after a half in which the Mac offence was AWOL, the six-foot-four, 210-pound pivot immediately had an impact. Just as he did in relief during the pre-season game against Saskatchewan.

Against the fourth-ranked team in the country, he threw the ball well, ran effectively when he was in trouble, and looked completely unfazed by the moment.

"What he was," said Western head coach Greg Marshall, "was composed. He was composed. When he pulled the ball down, he pulled the ball down and made something happen with it."

"I felt good," White said afterwards.

No, he wasn't perfect. But he looked like he could be a big-time QB, even exploding through the line on a third-and-short for a thoroughly unexpected 33-yard touchdown romp. After which he was so pumped up he forgot to keep the ball from his first career score and threw it away.

Of course, the fact that Mac was only trailing 16-7 when White entered was again thanks to a terrific maroon defence that frustrated the Mustangs enough that even they made a quarterback change. The Marauders had four sacks, three interceptions — that could easily have been five — and forced Western to punt eight times. Heaven knows, neither York nor Guelph had done that to Western in their first two games.

It was another very, very good showing by the D. In fact, nothing that happened in this game changes the belief that this could be the best defensive unit in Ontario. Which means McMaster should be in every game. To beat the good teams, all they need is to add a little more scoring.

"Our defence played well," White says. "We've just got to be better on offence."

Assuming he gets the start next Saturday at home game against Ottawa, there's every reason to believe they will be.

    But will he start?

"You'll have to stay tuned," Knox said.

The head coach is playing coy. That has to be it. Because the only way this team has a quarterback controversy now is if he decides to create one. And the only way he does that is by choosing not to play the guy who is clearly the young man who gives this team the best chance to win.

    Stay tuned....

You know, maybe he's toying with the opposition defence, to keep them on their toes.....keep them guessing.......but in reality, why say this.
He already played Dueck for most of 2 games when he wasn't able to gel, connect, he was struggling. He needs to study, learn more plays
Put him in as the backup QB, give him playing time then.
White was the more seasoned QB.

These comments Can't be good for the Mac QBs, it's creating uncertainty, tension possibly within the team btwn these two QB's
The QB's are two different QB styles, one is just not developed enough yet - give him some time behind White.
The indecisiveness may even cause some insecurity. Does Knox prefer Dueck?
What happened in the two games, and now this comment doesn't make sense....
Knox needs to stick to what he does best, Defence. There's no question we have an incredible D, He's incredibly talented tat that.
Is he not letting the OC"s do their jobs?
It makes me think now to perhaps why Behie may have left.

    Why say this?

Mac can't afford to mess around, especially when we are ranked 2nd last in the CIS for total offence
