    Default Week 9

    OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 9

Throughout the Season of Shorts you may have noticed that many on the OHT27 committee wear hats, and many don't. So this week, we feature the hat vs. no hat debate to help us through a difficult ranking.

    PRIOR OHT27s:

    STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni. The games marked were reversed in league standings.

    CANADA WEST

1 Calgary (7-0, 7-1) beat Alta Reg Man Sask UBC Man Reg lost Reg#
2 Regina (4-3, 5-3) beat Cal# UBC Alta Sask Alta lost Cal Man Cal
3 UBC (5-2, 6-2) beat Alta# Man Sask Alta Sask Man lost Reg Cal
4 Alberta (2-5, 2-6) beat Man Sask lost UBC# Cal Sask Reg UBC Reg
5 Saskatchewan (2-5, 2-6) beat Man Alta lost McM# UBC Cal Reg UBC Alta
6 Manitoba (1-6, 1-6) beat Reg lost Sask UBC Cal Alta Cal UBC

How about those Evil Monkeys! A big time butt whoopin on the Mangy Mutts pushes them up a spot. And Manitoba again came oh-so-close to another upset. But coulda shoulda woulda doesn't matter. That would have set up a big confrontation next week. Instead they will be playing spoiler.

    ONTARIO

1 W. Ontario (8-0, 8-0) beat York* Gue McM Wind* Que Laur Carl Ott
2 Laurier (6-2, 6-3) beat Tor* Carl Que Wat York* McM lost Con# UWO Gue
3 McMaster (6-2, 7-2) beat Sask# Carl Ott Gue York* Tor* Wind* lost UWO Laur
4 Ottawa (5-3, 5-3) beat Gue Que York* Wind* Wat lost McM Carl UWO
5 Guelph (5-3, 7-3) beat SFX# MtA# Wind* Tor* Wat Laur Carl lost Ott UWO McM
6 Carleton (3-5, 3-6) beat Que Ott Tor* lost Lav# McM Laur Wat UWO Gue
7 Queen's (4-4, 5-4) beat McG# Wind* Wat York* Tor* lost Car Ott Laur UWO
8 Waterloo (4-4, 4-4) beat Wind* York* Tor* Carl lost Laur Gue Que Ott
9 Windsor (1-7, 1-7) beat York* lost Wat Tor* Gue UWO Ott Que McM
10 York (1-7, 1-8) beat Tor* lost Sher# UWO Wat Ott McM Laur Que Wind*
11 Toronto (1-7, 1-8) beat Wind* lost Mtl# Lau Wat Gue York* McM Carl Que

After a blah kinda season, the OUA has produced many rankings-busters in recent weeks. Good thing the OHT27 has an inspirational committee to sort this out. The Urban Cowboys get #1, and the jabronis are 9-10-11. Since the OUA does not play a full round-robin, we sort the rest by their record against one another:

    Laur 4-1
    McM 3-1
    Ott 3-2
    Gue 3-2
    Carl 2-4
    Que 1-3
    Wat 1-4

    Easy!

But the BIG NEWS is that Windsor beat York in the Jabroni Bowl. This produced a 3-way tie, and they all beat each other once. Of course, none had a win over anybody else. Windsor and York were both +9 in those games and Toronto -18. So by beating York by just enough points, they get the honour of Jabroni of the Year. York gets the honour of placing in the OUA Top Ten. And Toronto is the Big Lemon.

    QUEBEC

1 Laval (6-1, 7-1) beat Car# Sher McG Con McG Sher Mtl lost Mtl
2 Montreal (5-1-1, 6-1-1) beat Tor# Con Lav Sher McG Sher lost Lav can Con
3 Concordia (3-3-1, 4-3-1) beat Lau# Sher McG McG lost Mtl Lav Sher can Mtl
4 Sherbrooke (2-6, 3-6) beat York# Con McG lost Lav Con McG Mtl Lav Mtl
5 McGill (1-6, 1-7) beat Sher lost Que# Lav Con Mtl Lav Con Sher

Both games produced an upset in games between beside each other in the standings. This caused two flips.

    ATLANTIC

1 Saint Mary's (6-1, 7-1) beat Aca# SFX Bish Aca MtA SFX Bish lost Aca
2 Acadia (6-2, 6-3) beat Bish SFX MtA Bish SFX SMU lost SMU# MtA SMU
3 Mount Allison (3-4, 4-5) beat SFX# Aca SFX Bish lost Gue# SFX Bish SMU Aca
4 St. F.X. (2-5, 2-7) beat MtA Bish lost Gue# MtA# SMU Aca SMU MtA Aca
5 Bishop's (1-6, 1-6) beat MtA lost Aca SMU SFX Aca SMU MtA

The Cajuns got a big win, especially due to the SMUskies' penalty loss to St.FX in the official standings. But here the rankings remain unchanged.

    STEP 3: THE BLEND

    "CONTENDERS"
1 Calgary (7-0, 7-1) beat Alta Reg Man Sask UBC Man Reg lost Reg#
2 Laval (6-1, 7-1) beat Car# Sher McG Con McG Sher Mtl lost Mtl

15 Saint Mary's (6-1, 7-1) beat Aca# SFX Bish Aca MtA SFX Bish lost Aca

    "HAM'N'EGGERS"
16 Manitoba (1-6, 1-6) beat Reg lost Sask UBC Cal Alta Cal UBC
17 Queen's (4-4, 5-4) beat McG# Wind* Wat York* Tor* lost Car Ott Laur UWO
18 Acadia (6-2, 6-3) beat Bish SFX MtA Bish SFX SMU lost SMU# MtA SMU
19 Sherbrooke (2-6, 3-6) beat York# Con McG lost Lav Con McG Mtl Lav Mtl
20 Mount Allison (3-4, 4-5) beat SFX# Aca SFX Bish lost Gue# SFX Bish SMU Aca
21 Waterloo (4-4, 4-4) beat Wind* York* Tor* Carl lost Laur Gue Que Ott
22 St. F.X. (2-5, 2-7) beat MtA Bish lost Gue# MtA# SMU Aca SMU MtA Aca
23 McGill (1-6, 1-7) beat Sher lost Que# Lav Con Mtl Lav Con Sher
24 Bishop's (1-6, 1-6) beat MtA lost Aca SMU SFX Aca SMU MtA

    "JABRONIS"
25 Windsor (1-7, 1-7) beat York* lost Wat Tor* Gue UWO Ott Que McM
26 York (1-7, 1-8) beat Tor* lost Sher# UWO Wat Ott McM Laur Que Wind*
27 Toronto (1-7, 1-8) beat Wind* lost Mtl# Lau Wat Gue York* McM Carl Que

Neither “near contender” could break through. So The Blob grows. The failures of McMaster and Laurier to stay above the unwashed masses in the OUA brings them back to the pack. They remain above the rest of the OUA, but the gap is really tight. A case could be made to boost Manitoba, Queen's, and Acadia into The Blob.

And hats off to the dearly departed Waterloo. They still get an unofficial “Team of the Year” commendation fot their rise from A**clowns to Ham'n'Eggers.

    NEXT UP

    Oct 28 McGill Montreal
Oct 28 Mount Allison Saint Mary's

As we head to the final week of the season, ladies with hats and without hats show us they can work together to produce the best possible rankings. They deserve your gratitude.
