NEW WESTMINSTER – Longtime Canada West football broadcaster Jim Mullin was honoured Thursday night in Vancouver, as he received the Paul Carson Award for Leadership in Advocacy thanks to his work promoting and developing varsity sports in Canada.

Mullin has been the play-by-play voice of Krown Canada West football on Shaw for a decade, while also hosting and producing Krown Countdown U – a weekly Canadian university sports TV program focused on CIS football.
Over his long career, Mullin has played a key part in promoting Canada West and CIS athletics, including playing a central role in the 2011 Vanier Cup, which was hosted at Vancouver's BC Place.
The Paul Carson Awards, or Carsonis, recognize excellence in sports broadcast and journalism across British Columbia and are named after the late-great Paul Carson, who was widely known across the province as a popular sports television and radio pioneer.
Also honoured Thursday was Earl Seitz of CFJC TV in Kamloops (top sports television anchor, outside of Vancouver) and Howard Tsumara of The Vancouver Province (high school sport coverage).
Both are former winners of the Canada West Fred ‘Gus’ Collins Award, which is handed out annually to recognize a member of the media for their tireless work covering Canada West and its student-athletes.
