Yes. But, I'm thinking of someone else...

Sorry I'm a bit slow to reply! Yes, but interestingly, there are a also a lot of people who think Flynn wasn't the best QB in his year. (Trivia question - which other QB was in Flynn's year?)
Scarfone was around 1982 if I remember correctly.
A question for OV - if he had played in the last 20 years, what would you say about Chris Flynn? Would he meet your criteria for the Ultra-QB?
Faulds? Brannigan?
Whoo boy...
Bob Laycoe died in late December.

Where were you eleven years ago today?
Right but that's the complaint.
Instead of seizing the opportunity to choose a distinctive name like Martlets ... they chose RedBirds.
Nothing wrong with it (and its better than York...
I suppose it could have been worse
the McGill BIG M.
Or, the McGill Maniac
the McGill Machine
The McGill Mumbletypeg
The McGill Mumblecore
Hmmm.....
So, why is this better than Martlets?
or Red Martlets?
Is "bird" a dumbed down "Martlet" ?
I call Bingo, Marton.
What do I win? ;)

Not to get into a long-winded discussion about the NCAA, but one idea behind this is that the conference universities can trust each other to implement similar health protocols. If, say, Purdue...
The Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum announced the 2020 induction class, including Laurier's Larry Uteck.

A minor point, but one thing this may suggest is that some Canadian and Ontario universities might take a look at what sort of / quality of on-campus experience they are offering.
It s also a bit weird in that it almost appears to be arguing that if playgrounds (and primary/secondary schools) are open, so should universities. That doesn't make much sense, IMO. But, actually...
This article is a bit odd. Maybe its been edited to fit space?
Is it a response to some non-university people talking about online learning and "what is the point of a physical university...
One might add that governments sometimes make decisions for political reasons rather than medical ones.
I agree its not justified to say they don't care - I take that back!
However, it does suggest that they think it is safe to run sports teams in the fall - otherwise they would not consider running...
That's interesting. Isn't that basically an admission by UOttawa that they are letting someone else decide whether to run their fall sports teams? How can they justify that, other than a big shrug...
Laval, UBC and Montreal are also up over 42K.
Someone at Guelph is doing a good job.
I think Ryerson and York are surprisingly low. Of course, they don't have football to drive followers.
Never mind! I am speaking out of my... posterior. I think upon further investigation that Leacock was referring to donations by William Macdonald (not McGill) when he quipped that "the Carnegies...
Yes, but I also think that if McGill made the money he donated to/founded McGill by using slaves in the tobacco fields - i.e. the money came directly from slavery - then that is different than if he...
? I don't think the article linked to says that ?
Anyway, doesn't surprise me.
Hold on - the article just says they want a statute removed (and replaced with a tree ;) ), not renaming the university.
OTOH, the famous phrase is that McGill was founded "upon fields of...
I have no idea about this in Quebec, but is there a possibility that the RSEQ also has the provincial government in mind - i.e. wanting to be careful not to embarrass the provincial government as...
I strongly suspect that has already been tossed out the window... ;)
Maybe not that different - Queen's is opening residences in the fall, though it will accommodate less students than normal.
So, maybe football is possible.
Now that's interesting - sounds very different from what McMaster or Queen's are doing.
One thing to check is - which students? If Medical students, nursing students, MBA and grad students are going to be on campus, but not undergrads, then I don't think that bodes well for football.
That is a really depressing thought, but also true.
Maybe we'll all have to make do with less.
I like that!
This has little to do with football, but, well, good luck with that.
I'm thinking about it a bit differently - I think if the classes are online, there's no way they are going to run a football team.
In other words, I think the decision to run their courses...
Yes, I predict that there will definitely be a shift in momentum in the OUA in 2020.
A complete halt. ;)
(sorry... couldn't resist... ;) )
Just wondering.
The deadline in Ontario for high school students to accept/reject offers of admission to Ontario universities is June 1.
So, over the last few days (i.e. late last...
"Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp,
Or what's a heaven for? All is silver-grey... "
Also, that would solve the problem of what to call Left-of-Ontario Canada.
ps - its the The Great Purple Satan U!
Yes, but that would associate them with that evil team in London, so from an emotional/religious/semiotic point of view, West Quebec makes far more sense.
"Ottawafans note: I do not see any mention of a football championship being held."
Traditional! Hold a round robin and the winner is the Champion.
If there are no Vanier or Bowl games, and everything seemed somewhat under control, I could see a game between the Q and Ontario champions being arranged.
If the students are allowed on campus this fall as long as the universities enforce social distancing while teaching, there won't be any football because the fields / stadiums will be pressed into...
I really like that article.
I mean the Coach Boyd termination. Irreconcilable positions/interests.
Purdue University's President has sent out a statement that is raising eyebrows.

Its worth reading the...
Ah! Well, that sounds more positive, and sensible.
Tragic, but I wonder if it was also inevitable.
Although it should be noted that there was some sort of error in the Western Bowl that year...
Queen's! Queen's! Queen's!
