So, no shock here as the Gators return every defensive starter, the best special teams in America, all but 2 offensive starters, and one of the best players in NCAA history...

They have more #1 votes than any previous team in a preseason poll. No one is giving anyone else much of a chance. Most people are not even giving McCoy's mustache a chance.

Think the Gators can get knocked off this year? Softer schedule than in previous years, but still a tougher ride than all but 1-2 of the top 15 teams.

Sasky Girl,

Remember these are preseason polls, they still have to win the games. USC was an 'unbeatable' team when Texas won the national championhsip.

The Titanic was supposed to be unsinkable.

I think Florida's schedule could pose a problem should the Gators lose a game.

Fla. Atlantic, Troy, Charleston Southern (maybe FSU) If the Gators lose, I think some may argue the Gators should not play for the national title. that is a cupcake soft non-conference schedule. On paper, the SEC appears to be in rebuilding mode. Lots of talk about Mississippi..but I am not sold on them, yet.

Remember the last team to go wire to wire number one was FSU in 2000.

Again, Bruiser comes up with some real insight. You're a heck of a deep thinker pal. So you are saying Florida has to play this year? No one knew that. Thought they got a bye to the title. Dumb ass. Seriously dude, go back to school and wind your head up again. You're out of ideas man.

Jump off, I could not agree more. If ever there was one year where the Gators could use a better non-conference, it might be this one (note: no UM game this year). But if FSU is at the top of the ACC, Bama is legit, and they play a 1-loss team for the SEC title, they could maybe afford an early close loss.

So I just heard Bowden claimed Ward was better than Tebow. That old prick is senile! Has been for a decade.

Saint Bobby is not senile....

I have to agree with Bowden. Charlie Ward was plain sick back in the day (in those days..FSU played Miami and Florida each year until Florida wimped out of the deal).

To me, Tebow is a hybrid QB that gets a ton of press!

Day one of college football..as I type this, BYU is winning (Bradford is out with a sprained shoulder...)...Florida is doing what they are supposed to do against Charleton Southern...I think Ohio State was looking ahead to USC...got by a Navy team that put 345 yards rushing on Ohio State...USC six-deep running backs and OL are chomping at the bit.

On paper, OSU cannot compete with USC. However, you can't count out "the next vince young" playing against a freshman tho. PLus, OSU is at home. Still, I like USC by 17+

On paper, again, UF is the sickest team I have ever seen. They are a WR short of being absolutely perfect. I think UGA looked great, and Bama has been pretty dominant, but the results may not be there for either today (Dogs already lost, and VT is closer than they should be). After one week, I still like were the SEC and UF are at.

As for your comments about UF and Tebow. I think you will want to check your facts about UF wimping out of deals with FSU. There was a time were FSU was the only ACC team and UM were the only team in the East. UF had to play 3-4 other ball games every year against teams the same caliber of FSU/UM. So UF asked UM to pick up 3 more games against real football teams, UM did not, so UF could not re-sign. But UF has always been stand up about playing FSU, even when FSU had over a month to prep for the Gators. So you could not be more wrong or more misleading about that.

I respect your opinion about Ward, but the numbers, the awards, the wins, the titles, and the mainstream opinion in college ball are all on my side...and it is not close. But you are entitled to your view, just like I am entitled to say that Spurrier is the greatest coach in all of history! All sports, all levels, around the globe. It is dumb, but I can say it, right?

DUDE! You nailed it for me too. I was a huge irish guy before I became a gator fan and alum. That irish team was pretty much the last good one too. Maybe bettis and brooks with rick meier at pivot...was lake dawson their big endzone magnet at wr? maybe bobby taylor at cb? amazing team.
